SOS Wyong

Tuggerah Treehouse is a great family holiday programme that runs for the first week of January.

We managed to take a load of kids to this porgramme aswell as Good News Week (in Berkeley vale High School) last year.

A fun filled programme that includes complimentary food and drinks, ?with kids programmes for all ages: Pre-school, School and Teens that run from 9-11:30ish.

ITS ALL FREE! Thanks to a number of churches and volunteers looking to provide good fun and Good news for the community

This week we are back to the normal starting time of 3:45 for a 4pm start. Christmas morning was sweet and New Years Sunday should be too!

We are beginning the year by looking at the Phrase ‘Be Still’. In particular the biblical perspective of “Be still and know that I am God” from psalm 46.

We will look at the funny side of this type of comment from our own lives before moving into an exposition of the Psalm and its application for us today.

This will be an indepth look into this iconic phrase for the rest of the school holiday period.

After this we will be finishing off 1 Peter when school starts back.

Due to popular demand we are holding a Christmas Sunday service

This Sunday, Christmas day at 9am we will consider the mish mash of beliefs that collide during this celebration, its origin and implications before we look at the heart of Christian celebration with the birthof Christ the Saviour

Should be about 45 min long, no meal but an important reminder of the reason for the season.

Should be enlightening and uplifting

BOBS this term is looking at Spiritual warfare.

It is alarming how caught up with the material world we can be to the point where we forget the Spiritual or supernatural.

To do so is detrimental to the Christian faith as we begin to walk by sight not by faith, by human logic rather than Godly wisdom, in the flesh rather than by the Spirit.

^{Each of the Guys this term will attempt to lead a discussion on an aspect of Spiritual warfare.}

^{As discussed the imitials below are matched to the topics for the next few weeks.}

^{JW is first with ‘The mind’ in particular; Rationalising/Human reason and Spiritual warfare.}

^{Sweeney was keen to look at Materialism the following week}

^{DS really does want it to be a surprise before the last week where we will have our break up.}

To avoid the HEAT of summer, which hasn’t really hit yet, we meet at the different time of 3:45 for a 4 oclock start.

Please remember that tea will be AFTER the Sermon.

We will begin at 4pm for announcements and singing, occasionally, before we launch into the sermon.

All being good we will be be finished by 4:45 to begin heating up dinner and serving by 5pm.

Don’t forget to bring a plate and get there on Time

Monday night prayer is going strong.

Family prayer from 7-7:30 pm before the Adults kick on till 9pm.

We have been getting the children to have a Lords supper of thier own to bring them to a clear understanding of this awesome tradition.

The kids have been loving it because as you can imagine its also a good time of fellowship for them.

The Adults are pretty much the same

A good time to catch up and be ministered to as we seek God to unleash the Holy Spirit on Wyong with and without us

We have had some quick and some not so quick healings BUT it never hurts to ask!

This Sunday is the AGM and the members of SOS will be voting on the appointment of Deacons.

So as not to have two sermons in one day we thought we might kill two birds with one stone as it were.

So this Sunday we will be looking at the origin of the appointment of church deacons and why this is a time honoured christian position in the church today.

After desert we will then be holding the annual general meeting and talk about church membership and the requirements we have for that before voting on the Deacons appointment.

This Sunday we will be looking at both creationism and Intelligent Design Theory.

While these two are closely related in Christian circles they are in fact different.

As we wrap up Genesis 1-11 it will be good to visit these arguments and see thier strengths and weaknesses in light evolution and Neo-Darwinism.

I think you will be surprised and challenged

Yep BOBS is on a break over the holidays.

We will be praying for Dads to be patient especially if they are at home Dads.

For Dads who have limited time off work we pray that you will be refreshed by the Spirit to have some energy to play with your kids and support the wife where possible as you continue to work over the school holiday period

No doubt the social events that the BOBs boys are known for will continue over the holidays via text.

Prayer continues to flow over the holidays.
